What do you like about Lebanon? The diversity of people and things to do, the chaos even if it irritates me most of the time, food, weather and cultural heritage. The kindness of people and their stupidity both amaze me sometimes. What do you hate about Lebanon? The huge ego of the Lebanese even though I love to party and go out. But since Beirut has become "party city" in the eyes of foreign media it seems that there's nothing else besides that. Political life is too pervasive in everyday life. I hate the snobbery of most people, rich or poor, of all faiths. The importance of appearance has taken precedence over everything. Are you involved in an association or a movement? I am not active in a political movement; I cannot stand any party because they do not interest me. I do not share the vision of any of them. In my close family, we are not talking about politics at home. But I am in a group that fights against the destruction of old houses. Even if, out of laziness, I'm not very active. How do you see the future of your country? I do not know. Often everything depresses me and I want to leave as most people do because I feel that there is nothing here. And often I am taking a leap of faith (high quality Lebanese!); I say no, we will pull through. Many countries take several decades after a civil war to find their balance and stability. If you had to leave Lebanon, where would you want to live? Either in a metropolis like London or New York or in an "exotic" such as Sri Lanka. I say a city because there are always things to do and people to meet and an exotic land so that I can explore something different from my own culture. A dream? I change too often to have concrete dreams. Right now I dream of taking a year off to travel across continents!
